Jesus sums it up when He is teaching His disciples. They want to know which commandment is most important. Jesus sums up the whole law with two basic life principles: | And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ |
Catch that! He wants to abide with us! This is a close relationship! This is not a big button with the word BLESSINGS etched on it that we press as we pass by on our way to our real life. This is a real blessed life! "Me + Jesus" carved in the tree with a heart around it.
This relationship is our lifeblood. He is the life-sustaining vine, and we gain nourishment, encouragement and strength from Him, just like the branches of a blooming tree. We grow in Him and remain steadfast in Him, and we blossom into a beautiful blessed life. And that life-giving love is always available. Night or day. Right now.
Cling to the vine, let yourself be spliced into it so you can grow connected to it, and feel life's burdens lifted. He has created you for this. There is a God-shaped space just for Him in your heart. God is a God of relationship. And He has invited all to enter in to His abiding love.
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out." ~John 6:37
